It's Wednesday, and you know what that means: An all new Aaron Torres Podcast. Aaron recorded immediately after the Champion's Classic, and recaps sloppy losses from both Kentucky and Duke, as well as a busy day in the Maui Invitational. He then talks the College Football Playoff rankings, what late-season outcomes could shake up the playoff and Kirk Herbstreit's comments on Michigan "ducking" Ohio State. Here is today's rundown:
Champions Classic recap: Aaron opens the show by discussing what is usually a joyous college hoops event, the Champions Classic, that turned sloppy, with ugly performances from Kentucky, Kansas and Duke. He starts by discussing another embarrassing performance by Kentucky, where poor shooting and sloppy turnovers cost them again on Tuesday night (2:30). Can it be fixed? And at what point do this team's stars start playing like it? After a brief conversation about Kansas (19:00), he then transitions to Duke, which looked just as bad as Kentucky (25:00). Just how bad are the Blue Devils, and do they have any stars on this year's team, or just a bunch of role players who are forced into roles they're not ready for? Also, what was up with the sound at Cameron Indoor? Finally, he briefly touches on the Maui Invitational and a solid performance by Louisville against Western Kentucky.
College Football Playoff Rankings + Kirk Herbstreit said what?: Next up, Aaron transitions to college football, where he discusses the most recent playoff rankings (38:00). With the same Top 7 as a week ago, Aaron asks the question: What scenarios could shake up the playoff race? Also, will Ohio State get in if they don't play for the Big Ten title, and what needs to happen for Texas A&M to get into the final four. Finally, he discusses Kirk Herbstreit's comments, after Herbstreit said that he could see Michigan refusing to play Ohio State next week (45:00).
