It's Sunday, and we are releasing the normal Monday episode of the Aaron Torres Podcast early - after a crazy weekend in sports. Aaron opens with the college hoops opening weekend, discussing Kentucky's loss to Richmond, Gonzaga's domination and why the Zags played after a player tested positive for Covid-19. Then he transitions to college football, talking Ohio State on the brink, Alabama's domination and why Notre Dame deserves some respect. Here is a rundown of today's show:
Kentucky loses, Gonzaga dominates on the opening weekend of college hoops: Aaron opens the show by discussing the opening weekend of college hoops, opening with Kentucky's stunning loss to Richmond (3:30). Aaron explains why this game was about Richmond simply being the better team, and why Kentucky's loss (along with Virginia and Villanova) proves that the crazy circumstances of this season could lead to some crazy results. He then transitions to Gonzaga, and begins with one simple question: Why did the Zags play a game after a player tested positive for Covid-19 (20:00)? The answer is simpler than you think. He then discusses the Zags as a team, and why they have proven to be the most balanced and best team in college hoops early in the season (34:00). He also explains why freshman Jalen Suggs is the X-factor in Spokane.
The college football weekend recap:  After a short break, Aaron then transitions to college football, and starts by talking about Ohio State (41:00). After a couple positive Covid tests, Ohio State may now not be eligible for the Big Ten championship game, and it could put their playoff chances at risk - and Aaron explains how the entire Big Ten has let them down. He then closes the show by explaining how this might be the most dominant Alabama team of the Nick Saban era (57:00) and why this Notre Dame can compete for a title like no Irish team of the modern era (1:08:00).
