On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D’Amico (briefly) offer up their thoughts on the Buffalo Bills disappointing loss to the Tennessee Titans, discussing how previous warts for the team were exposed in the prime time loss.
The Bills (4-1) don't have to wait long for a shot at redemption, welcoming the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (4-1) to Western New York for a 5 p.m. showdown on Monday Night Football.
This is a show me something kind of game for the Bills, who must address their shortcomings that were on display vs. the Titans, primarily: the lack of a pass rush, the inability to get off the field on third down, the poor play of the right side of the offensive line, the failure to get Devin Singletary and the ground game going, and those pesky, drive-killing penalties.
In Patrick Mahomes, the Bills face a daunting task trying to slow down Kansas City's high-flying offense, but both Boccacino and D'Amico expect the Bills to take a page out of the Las Vegas Raiders playbook and drop seven or eight guys into coverage while hoping the front four can generate enough pressure on Mahomes. Otherwise, the secondary, even if Tre'Davious White returns, could be in for a long day. Forcing Mahomes to settle for the short, underneath passes while containing Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and the deep passing game could be enough to limit the potent Chiefs offense.
On the other side of the ball, the Bills need to get the ground game going against a Chiefs team that ranks near the bottom of the league in run defense. With Stefon Diggs, John Brown, Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis, the Bills wide receivers should have an edge against a suspect Chiefs secondary, and Boccacino and D'Amico both expect to see a huge bounce back game from Josh Allen.
