Old Town’s Shanghai Tunnels are believed to be the remnants of Portland’s seedy past. Stories of human trafficking, opium dens, and gangster hideouts fuel their hype as a modern tourist destination. But Doug Kenck-Crispin of ORhistory.com says maybe that’s not the whole story.
