Oregon State is coming off one of the biggest wins in recent program history, a 45-27 shellacking of the USC Trojans. The victory was the first for the Beavers in the Coliseum in over 60 years. This is not the OSU program people have gotten used to over the past 20 years.
Head coach Jonathan Smith has done a good job of installing a new culture at his alma mater, one that has the players believing they can win. He and his staff have gone out and acquired a lot of talent including linebackers Omar Speights and Avery Roberts, the two leaders of the defense, and as well as transfers like quarterback Chance Nolan and receivers Tyjon Lindsey and Tre'Shaun Harrison.
Nolan and tailback BJ Baylor have been revelations for the Oregon State program, replacing productive players and elevating their game now that they have had the opportunity to show what they can do in games.
