Bob Porter is the founder of Porter Investments, a Houston-based money management firm specializing in quantitative, model-driven strategies for individual investors. The firm has worked with PHDs, process engineers, and other industry professionals to develop a series of rules-based investment strategies designed to achieve the goal all stock market investors seek; to participate when the major US equity markets are rising, but protect and in some cases further increase, our asset values during prolonged bear markets.
Bob worked for Fidelity Investments before starting the firm. While assisting hundreds of executives and business owners with their investment and retirement plans, he realized that as mere humans, we all fall into the same investment traps over and over.
From observing the motivations behind our repeated investment shortcomings, coupled with more recent advancements in technology and software development, his firm has successfully developed and delivered to individual investors a more specialized and focused approach. The models used in the firm’s strategies have successfully protected account values in the bear market of 2008 and the more recent pullbacks of 2018 and 2020.
