Actor, Writer, Producer and Musician Jo D. Jonz joins Christopher in the RFB studio to talk about his journey as an artist who believes, foremost, that creating is about originality and integrity.
As part of the group Boku Revolution X - whose collaborative music is defined as a hybrid of sounds and tones within the genres of traditional hip hop, trap, soul, funk, rock and EDM - Jonz shares with our listeners his extraordinary music, where the themes of the lyrics drives much of the conversation, including Pan-Africanism, the African diaspora, the state of our world, a hard look at our truths, the history behind "Each One Teach One”, and why he describes hip-hop as a runaway slave on drugs -- all inspired by the upcoming album, "Fantasy Manifesto."
A performer since the age of 5 - Jonz gives us insight into his personal experience about being a black actor working within the confines of Hollywood typecasting, using Hollywood's expectations to his advantage, why "selling-out" is more like "selling-in," and not identifying as society's mere definition of being black -- but living as the more complex "Mr. Glytch." Jonz also discusses one of his most important endeavors - TDay - an organization that focuses on feeding the homeless or any person in need of Food or Family, not just for the Thanksgiving Holiday, but year round.
