Description

Comedian, Writer, Musician and Speaker Nikki MacCallum generously takes the time to sit down with The Junk and Jam Hour host Christopher Albert at the Radio Free Brooklyn studio to talk about her impressive career as an entrepreneur, artist, philanthropist and her new book, DRY RUN, a memoir that compares the struggles of running a marathon to the challenges of growing up as an only child with an alcoholic parent.
She openly talks about her relationship with her alcoholic father - a 32 times marathoner - and the anguish and challenges of trying to get him to to stop drinking, including running the 26.2 mile Providence Marathon herself, as a means to get through to him.
Equipped with a whimsically adventurous spirit, she shares all about her stint on a VH1 reality dating show entitled, "Why am I Still Single", the story behind her 'Safe-Sex Watch', and how joyous it is for her to regularly eat dinner - in her bathtub!
Her charismatic and daring persona often finds her on stage -- and talks about the triumphs of writing, producing and starring in the Off-Broadway musicalĀ  Matchmaker Matchmaker I'm Willing to Settle! and One Woman Show Familiar Things - both of which have garnered her industry recognition and success - including being featured in the prestigious NY Musical Festival. She's also the hilarious co-host - along with comedy partner Sarah Cooper - of the monthly NYC standup showcase, So Brave Comedy.
Her most notable work is the time she dedicates to volunteering for the Coalition for the Homeless First Step Program, in which she supports underprivileged and underserved women in NYC looking to enter the workforce.
Nikki aims to continue to encourage and inspire others to put themselves out there proudly and shamelessly - and to live life unapologetically.
