Youngstown native Philip Taylor Kramer had success first as the bassist for the 1970s rock band Iron Butterfly, and then as a math and science prodigy working on government nuclear projects and then his own inventions. When he disappeared in 1995 from his California community, those who knew him were torn between whether he was a suicide risk, or had been abducted by people after his life's work.
