In the shadow of Hurricane Ida, we went out into the streets to talk to people. The common sense was more radical than we expected. Everyone is feeling trapped, so far from any ability to protect themselves from the super storms and fires. People seemed frustrated that they are in the middle of this city, so far from the natural world. They want to be closer to the Earth.
We asked random strangers “What would you say if you got the mic in Glasgow at the climate conference?” The answers shared a plea that someone at COP26 represent them - and be personally braver in this dangerous time.
Of course, Ida was an influence on this talk. Then again - we should always feel the nearness of the Earth.
