In September 1991, 25-year-old attorney Carolyn “Carrie” Lawson was living the life she’d worked so hard to build—newly married, just taken the bar exam, and settling into her new home in Jasper, Alabama. Then, in the middle of the night, the phone rang. A woman claimed a family member was sick and waiting at the hospital. When Carrie and her husband rushed outside, they were met by a masked gunman. He took Carrie with them. Hours later, the kidnapper called again with a ransom demand. The money was paid. But Carrie was never seen again.
More than three decades later, questions remain: Who else was involved? And why has she never been found?
This episode examines the abduction of Carrie Lawson—an unsolved kidnapping that shocked a community, devastated a family, and still holds unanswered questions.
This is her story.
