Description

Standout senior DB Quindell Johnson joined lead digital content creator, Kenny Stubblefield, in this episode of Ti20 Off the Boards.

Quindell and Kenny spend the first segment in this episode discussing last year's team and the individual grade that Quindell would give himself. Quindell shares some of his favorite plays and games from the 2021 season, and what part of the game is the hardest for physical defensive backs like himself. Quindell talks about the veteran leadership, both on the field and vocally, of former Tigers' Jacobi Francis and JJ Russell. He speaks on how their willingness to step up vocally helped the defensive grow on the field, and how he plans to fill that vocal role for the defense this year.

In the second segment, Kenny brings up the elephant in the room, which is Quindell's decision to come back to Memphis for his senior year instead of declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft. Quindell goes into great detail about why he made the difficult choice of coming back and what his ultimate goals are for him individually and the Tigers as a team. Quindell gives a really great piece of insight into why the changeover in the defensive coordinator during the offseason did not affect his decision to come back to Memphis. He explains how he views having 4 defensive coordinators in 5 years during his time at Memphis, and how his base knowledge of football helps him take the good from each defensive coordinator and build on top of his vast knowledge he possesses. Quindell ends the interview answering questions from fans.
