In episode 55 of Tigers in 20, lead writer and host Christian Fowler and GoTigers247 founder Brooks Hansen discuss the latest in Memphis Tigers basketball and football.
The duo begins the episode by discussing the Tigers 51-47 win over Tennessee on Saturday. The win was Penny Hardaway's first victory over a top 25 opponent, and it was fitting to come against Rick Barnes and the Vols.
Although the Tigers only scored five points in the first 12 minutes, they found a way to battle back and beat a very good team in a hostile environment. Saturday's game was only Memphis' second true road game of the season, but they handled it very well.
Instead of folding when Tennessee went up early, they continued to fight and battle back. Fowler and Hansen discuss the ins and outs of the game and how the Tigers knocked off the Vols.
Next, the duo discusses changes to the Tigers coaching staff with Ryan Silverfield at the helm. Defensive coordinator Adam Fuller left for Florida State last week, and Silverfield told the media on Tuesday that Fuller will not coach the Tigers in the Cotton Bowl.
With Fuller gone, linebackers coach Kevin Clune will be filling in as the interim defensive coordinator for the bowl game. Fowler then discusses what could come next with the staff.
Finally, Fowler and Hansen preview the Early Signing Period, which begins on Wednesday.
