Dr. Maggie Vaughan
– The Whinypaluza Podcast with Rebecca Greene Episode 102 Improving Marital Patterns
Dr. Maggie Vaughan offers couples' and individual therapy to adults and specializes in relational concerns, anxiety and depressive disorders, and problems pertaining to self-image.
Her theoretical approach is an eclectic one, deriving from several psychoanalytic schools of thought as well as cognitive-behavioral theory. The psychoanalytic component of Dr. Vaughan's work helps clients become aware of previously unconscious aspects of themselves, including problematic ones, like ineffective decision-making and interpersonal patterns. Cognitive work assists clients in finding adaptive ways of perceiving themselves, others, and circumstances. Behavioral interventions involve the teaching of skills needed for effective coping, communication, self-care, and symptom relief.
As outdated behaviors and perceptions are identified and modified, clients report increased well-being and self-efficacy. Free from the internal constraints that formerly hindered them, clients ultimately find themselves living fully and authentically.
