Listen to this insightful Whinypaluza episode with Ryanne Mellick about skills we can teach our children to help regulate emotions and learn to regain or develop social and emotional skills.
Here is what to expect on this week’s show:

Lagging social and emotional skills in our kids, post-pandemic. Behavior issues are on the rise.

We all need to learn how to physically be in the presence of other people after being isolated for so long.

Tackling issues by targeting the most problematic and creating a specialized approach to helping them manage their emotions.

Remembering that kids do not have the same skill set as adults when interacting with others and coming up against a challenge. Help them to verbalize what is going on in their minds and with how they are feeling.

Yoga as part of an integrative approach to helping kids regulate their emotions.

Breathwork is a skill anyone can, and should use to help us calm down and reset.

Journaling, calming music, or movement can be very effective to calm agitation.

Tips for calming racing thoughts.

Remembering that all these coping skills are ones that adults can use, too!

Working from home has affected many adults with their own social skills and interaction.

Remember getting back to what was normal before the pandemic will be uncomfortable at first. Many things start with discomfort, but great things come out of seeing it through.
