Here is what to expect on this week’s show:

What do you do to cope with stress, especially during the holidays?

Put the gifting stress into perspective: will the gifts make the holiday special, or will something else be more meaningful?

All the gifts don’t need to be amazing and perfect. The holiday ISN’T about the gifts.

Reinforce with your children that the holiday is about the memories more than the gifts.

You do not need to buy for everyone. Pare it down to people who really impact your life.

Big family? Draw names and buy for ONE person instead of everyone.

You don’t have to maintain traditions that don’t work for you. Make a list with your family about what you want to do. Remember: your opinion counts, too.

It is ok to skip cleaning and chores to fit the holiday business in, but don’t cut out regular, healthy eating and exercise. Make them a priority. Skipping them will make you feel worse, contributing to the stress.

Build downtime into your day.

Take time to have gratitude when you find yourself complaining or stressing about things that don’t matter.

If you want to have children who are less materialistic, set a good example.

Does grief factor into your seasonal stress? If the holidays trigger anxiety and depression due to grief, find a way to honor the person instead of skipping the holiday entirely, especially if you have others around you who want to celebrate with you.

Consider baking instead of shopping. Sometimes the gift of homemade treats is a special gift.
