Listen to this Whinypaluza Wednesday Live vlog episode with The Greene Family! An extension of the weekly blog, join Rebecca and her family on the live vlog, brought to you here in case you missed it last week!
This week we are talking about changing patterns and behaviors. Get rid of the ones that don’t serve you and create new ones that do!
Here is what to expect on this week’s show:
Hear about a recent incident with the girls that caused Rebecca to revoke an activity that was planned. How did she and Seth handle it and stay calm and grounded in a tense situation?
Sometimes when one parent is reactive to a situation, it might trigger the other parent to side with the kid, when they should be a calm, united front.
Learning to be flexible. It is ok to take time to give your kid an answer. You don’t need to say yes or no right away. This is an exercise in not constantly giving in when your child pressures you.
Don’t escalate a situation in your own brain by overanalyzing the situation with things like, “Why is she doing this to me?” “I’m not raising my kid to act this way?” Lose the “how dare they” mentality.
Lean on your partner as a support to get you through moments when you have a difficult time dealing with certain behaviors.
Celebrate your successes and repeat them!
It is ok to give yourself a time out to keep yourself from escalating a situation.
