Welcome to another episode of Skagit Storytellers. My guests today are Luke Lomsdalen and Danny Hagen. Luke owns Old Timers in Sedro-Woolley and Danny Hagen is the County Assessor, but they are both on the podcast because I wanted to talk about the Skagit Highland Games. If you listened to Scott Storie’s episode (#33 of this podcast!), I discovered on air that Luke is Scott’s nephew. So, in addition to being the athletic director for the Skagit Highland Games, a thrower, and the owner of a local bar, Luke also works in lawn care. Danny currently has 4 kids with his lovely wife Nicole, and is involved in Leadership Skagit and Burlington Rotary Club. Danny’s been a very positive influence in my life. He not only helped us get our farm started, but he introduced Toastmasters to me, and, even though I have a lot going on, I think I’ll eventually join Leadership Skagit. Go support the Highland games the first full weekend in July after the 4th. But, you can also go see some throwers in action during Mo'Throw on Saturday, November 18th (Yep, in 3 days!). It's all day in Sedro-Woolley at 6254 N Fruitdale Road. Come out and support the games which raises money for men's health. Speaking of raising money, a huge shoutout to Luke for starting a recent fundraising campaign that's so far raised over $6000 to help feel some local families. As he mentions in his Facebook post, there's also several local men who jumped on board to help out too (shaving faces or heads, and cutting off mullets too!). If there wasn't enough reasons to love this Valley, Luke just gave me a few more. Enjoy the episode!
