Growing up Japanese and Caucasian, Dave "Akira" Sands was immediately exposed to many cultures and cuisines. Watching and learning from his late mother set the seeds of his pure joy of cooking. After graduating from the City College of San Francisco’s Hotel & Restaurant program, Dave went on to cook professionally all over the San Francisco Bay Area for five years, working in numerous restaurants, catering, and corporate food services. Today, he shares his exciting transition from the food services industry to car dealership, law enforcement, and then circling back to his love of cooking! Now Dave is hosting a podcast called the Food Origins Podcast, where he brings his culinary experience and passion for food.
