Michael Khoury was a teenage student of mine when I taught music in Buffalo, NY many, many moons ago. He's now a grown man and has developed into quite the professional musician, dj & entrepreneur and has one of the most positive dispositions on the internet.

Segment 1

“Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keep you going.”

 

Jeremiah introduces the guest of the show Michael Khoury, the two reminiscing on their personal history. He talks about when he first found his passions and inspirations for music, outlining his journey as a bedroom musician to a professional DJ. Jeremiah then inquires about the first business moves of his careers, Michael, a business major, trying to find his footing in a couple different industries and attempting to learn what he was really passionate about.

Segment 2

Michael talked about his transition from insurance to music, getting into DJing and applying his knowledge as a business major to his current profession. The conversation goes back and forth about music, skill-developing and honing in on one's passions, Gary Vaynerchuck, and drumming.

Jeremiah talks about first finding his passion for Brazilian jiu-jitsu along with working as a musician. He also talks about adaptability, finding one’s strengths, and finding out where you fit among a large group. Jeremiah brings it back to motivations and habits, why both are necessary to each other, Michael talking about the importance of personal growth and avoiding stagnation.

Michael relates his experiences of working at weddings during the pandemic, sharing his excitement for getting to learn and grow from these difficult challenges. Michael talks about what he wants to do once everything opens back up, sharing his long-term goals as well, advocating for people to be realistic and stay positive. Michael ends the show with sharing his contact information for listeners.
