When the angel appeared to Joseph and told him that Mary was with child, the angel told Joseph not to be afraid and that this child was to be named Immanuel, which means God with us. This wasn’t the only time in the Bible that the Messiah was referred to as Immanuel, as this was prophecy fulfilled from what God conveyed to His people through the prophet Isaiah not to fear because He was sending Immanuel.
