Irene has experience in Human Resources (recruiting, training and development, employee engagement) and Student Support in Higher Education (course development, teaching, professional advising, community relations, program creation and evaluation, event management). Irene’s forte is developing enjoyable, inclusive opportunities to connect people on a human level and encourage growth in those they serve, honoring the fact that learning and leading is a social act.
Irene’s passion for challenging folks towards achieving their highest potential started with undergraduate studies at a nontraditional school which highly valued critical and innovative thinking - New College of Florida - earning a BA in Sociology and Urban Studies. Irene then achieved an MA in Educational Psychology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, which provided a rich understanding of adult learning processes. Irene is currently pursuing a doctorate in Learning and Leadership at University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and is serving as the Director of Student Success at the College of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
