Aliens have held a place in pop culture’s heart for a very long time.
At times they’ve served as our villain. At times, our friend. They’ve been childlike and cute. And they’ve been the butt-end of the campiest of jokes.
Today we explore these evolutions throughout the decades. Beginning as a one-dimensional, emotionless monster in the early 20th century, we’ve watched their Pop Culture stereotypes evolve into something a bit more identifiable, hopeful and compatible with humanity as we’ve moved into the 21st.
Based on cinema’s trend, can we presume a peaceful paradigm shift if first contact were to ever become a reality? Or are the early stereotypes too deeply rooted in our Societal Psyche - detrimental to our understanding and ultimately, our acceptance, of the ET and UFO Phenomenon?
