BIG IDEA: God will get me out and lift me up

DISCUSSION:
1. God humiliates the Foolish (Nabal)
a. You can be wealthy and still worthless (v.2; v.17)
b. The people around you speak truthfully about you when you’re notaround (v.17, v.25)
c. Who you are is not determined by what you have (v.36)

2. God keeps the Righteous (David)
a. God’s hand can do more for you than your name… but keep a good name (v.5, v.9-10)

Proverbs 22:1 NASB

“A good name is to be more desired than great wealth; Favor is better than silver and gold.”

b. God will send others to remind you of who you are and what God is doing (v.28-31)
c. God’s hand will help you keep your hands clean (v.38-39)

“Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord.”

3. God promotes the Humble (Abigail)
a. What’s in you sets you apart more than your appearance (v.3)

Ask: Where do you need wisdom to keep you from foolishness?
