Kyikyi is the owner of “Himalayan Dumplings by Kyikyi" the 1st woman-owned Tibetan food brand in the US. She spoke about her grandparents escape from Tibet through the Himalayas, causing her to be born and raised in Nepal and India, due to China’s colonization, studying at an all-girls Catholic boarding school despite being a Buddhist, her experiences as a refugee, how lucky she was to be sponsored to immigrate to Colorado by an American family she was working for as an interpreter, how she manifested her eagerness to fit in by consuming American food resulting to her forgetting her Tibetan heritage, being judged for her accent, challenges of raising American girls and how it brought her back to get in touch with her Tibetan culture by quitting her 6-figure salary job to start “Himalayan Dumplings by Kyikyi".
