Description

Dr. Jack Paduntin is the President of Pacific Oaks College. He came on the podcast to talked about being a perennial great student in Bangkok, Thailand, until he moved to Dallas to acquire his Masters. There he suffered from culture shock both socially and academically, exacerbated by his lack of proficiency in English. As a result, he was told by his College Dean to “go home”; instead of heeding the Dean’s advice, he became a student assistant for international students, which turned his life around. When he received his master’s degree, he returned to Bangkok to work as a business consultant, but due to suffering ageism at work, he decided to obtain a doctorate in San Diego, California, which led him to discover his love for teaching. In addition, we discussed his work as a school President, where he advocates diversity, proper use of pronouns, gender neutral bathrooms, while giving all races a chance to succeed.
