"Gamification" has been a fun theme of interest in the SMB community for 2021, and it is exciting in the world of learning management. If employees are having fun, they are generally more engaged and making more money. This is particularly important when a new employee is being "on boarded." Traditional onboarding, learning, and development for employees is losing its impact, especially as the majority of the workforce shifts to a younger generation. Why? Well, if the employees aren't engaged and having fun, they aren't learning anything... Employees tend to forget 70% of what they learn, within just 3 days when using the traditional methods we have become accustomed to...it is not enough, employees and employers both can benefit from an alternative approach.
OUR GUESTS THIS WEEK BELIEVE YOU CAN LEARN ANYTHING FROM A GAME!

Steven introduces himself and the show, then he explains small and medium businesses. Steven then talks about today's topics - ‘Gamification’ - it has been a fun theme in the SMB community in 2020 and 2021, especially as the newer workforce replaces the old ones. This is because older, more traditional methods are becoming obsolete as new methods dominate and show success rates. Steven then introduces Eddie Jimenez the Manager of Channel Partnerships - he can speak volumes about training and learning in a professional setting. Steven then goes on to introduce ‘1huddle,’ a platform that not only trains but integrates the aspect of simple and fun competition. According the Steven when you make learning, training and onboarding fun it is way more effective and changes a very boring process.
According to Steven 70 million millennials like games, and if you do integrate games into learning you will have more employees more equipped in the work that is assigned to them. Eddie Jimenez is introduced by Steve and the two talk about 1huddle and the ability to be trained through games, even on phones. According to Eddie times are changing, why be stuck in the stone ages. According to Eddie training should be abatable and anyone who wants to level up should have access to the training they need - that's the bottom line, you can learn anything via a game. Engaging with gamification there is 97% more participation compared to traditional methods and you can also cut down on onboarding time.
According to Eddie there has been a huge shift, leaders from all industries want something new and exciting - most people already have access to the traditional e learning platforms. Gamification makes training something employees want to do rather than forcing them to go through a long and boring process. Eddie says leaders and employees are both tired of the long drawn traditional processes. Eddie created his platform with the mindset of not having to be in the setting of a classroom, not only should everyone have access but also save time on the long winded presentation that people forget very fast. People are driven to try to achieve on a game platform, they try to get on the leaderboard - there is a very strong want to learn when you gamify the process of learning.
The message that people need to take away from gamification is infinite, but the biggest takeaway is that people want to see something different. The average user on 1huddle is between 38 to 45 years old and the best player on the platform is 60 - according to Eddie this proves that age is just a number when it comes to learning through the game platform provided by 1huddle. Steven then mentions Eddie's favorite movie character, and his favorite TV character. Steven queues ‘The Entrepreneurial Web’ and thanks Eddie for being on the show. Steven introduces next week's topic and says goodbye.
