“Yes.” The final glass was a richer amber than the others, so vibrant it could have held the place of honor in a pagan queen’s crown.
“There’s only one left, and once poured, the liquor cannot be returned to the bottle. It is too precious not to be consumed.”
Phil stared the taster down, wishing that either it or he would disappear and remove the choice from his plate. “I can’t,” he pleaded. “Don’t make me.”
