Melanie Hodge is an American-born, British-based artist living in West Sussex. She paints in oils on glass in a reverse technique she was introduced to while living in Croatia. Melanie balances her art practice with caring for her two children, one of whom has Autism. Her works fit within naïve, outsider, and folk art traditions. Melanie became a member of the Association of British Naïve Artists in 2016 and in 2018 joined Outside In. Her art plays an essential role in maintaining her mental wellbeing, "it is both my escape from the world and my strength within it".
She is also the founder of Creative Carers. With her expansive experience, she offers workshops, coaching and [offers activities for local] Carer pamper days to other Carers, [giving them a chance] to try something new or, maybe, come back to a much loved hobby from the past.
