In this episode of The Cinema Gold Show, we take a look at the absurd yet surprisingly well-made movie, Cocaine Bear. Based on a real-life incident where an American black bear ingested 75 pounds of cocaine and died, the movie imagines a scenario where the bear lives and goes on a killing spree, hunting down more cocaine. While the concept may seem stupid, the movie works well as a horror-comedy that's both very funny and very violent. We discuss how the horror and comedy themes work well together and how the writing is weird and absurdist, reminiscent of parodies like Wet Hot American Summer or Tucker and Dale vs Evil.
