The switch happens at 2 a.m. local time. So, at 1:59:59 a.m. on Nov. 3, your digital clocks, like the one on your cellphone, will not jump to 2 a.m. — they will fall back to 1 a.m. This means we will gain an hour — unlike the springtime change to daylight saving time, when we lose an hour of sleep.
