Welcome to Parenting in Queens!
For today's episode I welcome guest Lisa G. Taylor who is a Childbirth Educator in Astoria.  First we discuss about the best advise she was given to keep a healthy relationship with her husband when raising young children.

In addition Lisa is a city schooler. She teaches her two children along with her husband's help at home. We learn about the homeschooling community and resources available. We discuss how home-schooling can be doable in a city with two working parents. Whether or not home-schooling is for you, Lisa will go in depth about how she is able to manage it and if you would like to do it part-time she recommends other resources available in the city. She is so hands-on but at the same time lay back in her home-school journey by taking it year by year. We also discuss the different types of home-school groups to see if it fits for your family.

We go in depth about the importance of self-care and making yourself as a priority. Lisa explains about her health journey using alternative medicine to heal her adrenal fatigue.

After giving birth twice, Lisa passion grew into the birth world. She learnt to advocate for herself and wished the same for other women. She started working on becoming a doula and a child birth educator at the same time. She is so passionate about giving families the right information to empower their birth experience. She is full of resources and is a great teacher for so many families. She has been an educator for ten years and her passion is still so contagious and invigorating.  Her work really captivates all families that even people from New Jersey and Long Island make the trip to attend her classes in Astoria.

Lisa has two new great projects; one is her podcast "Birth Matters" where she shares different birth stories and her online childbirth course is now live!
