🎙️ SNL Hall of Fame –Â
The Don Pardo Award: Directors Edition
Hey there, Hall-heads! jD here, and it’s time to cap off Season 7 with our tradition of shining a spotlight where it’s too often overlooked. That’s right—it’s the Don Pardo Award episode, our annual celebration of the under-heralded heroes of Saturday Night Live.
This year, we’re putting some long-overdue respect on the Directors of SNL—those unsung visionaries behind the cameras who’ve helped define the show’s look, feel, and chaotic live magic for nearly five decades.
Joining me in the (slightly crumbling) halls of the SNL Hall of Fame are:
- 🧠 Matt Ardill, Trivia Maestro and live-TV enthusiast
- 🎤 Bill Kenney, Chief Conversationalist and passionate ballot booster
Together, we:
- Pay tribute to Don Roy King, Beth McCarthy-Miller, and Davey Wilson, three titans who helped shape SNL through its various golden eras
- Reflect on the role of directors in live television and the unique challenges SNL presents
- Share behind-the-scenes anecdotes from classic sketches like Massive Head Wound Harry and Riding My Donkey
- Stump for SNL legends like Lorraine Newman and Garrett Morris on this year’s Hall of Fame ballot
