In this episode, I reflect on a question my mother asked me 22 years ago, shortly after my father’s death: “Do you think the wrong parent died?” My answer was “yes” then, and it’s still “yes” today. I’ll share why I feel this way by exploring the complicated relationships I had with both of my parents, the impact of my father’s abuse and later attempts to make amends, and my ongoing struggles with my mother. This episode is about understanding how those relationships shaped me and why my answer remains the same.
