On February 28, 2021, our host Dr. Marianne Ritchie was joined by Dr. Lisa A. Freed, an Assistant Clinical Professor at Yale School of Medicine and Director of Yale-New Haven Hospital’s Women’s Heart and Vascular Program, for a discussion about the prevention, risk factors, common and uncommon symptoms and the value of CPR.

Your Real Champion: Stayin' Alive

Each week we highlight the #RealChampions in your life! Your family, friends, or colleagues who go the extra mile to help others in their community. For this week, Your Real Champion was Stephanie Austin!

At age 35, Stephanie’s heart stopped while she slept. A fortuitous phone call awakened her husband who noticed her irregular breathing. His quick reflex to perform CPR gave her a second chance at life, and now she is a passionate advocate, volunteer, and fundraiser for the American Heart Association – sharing the message that everyone should learn CPR.
