Caitlyn Smith is a Country Music singer/songwriter who is signed with Monument Records and Universal Music Publishing Group. Caitlyn joins Country Music Made Me to discuss her early musical memories of performing at the Minnesota State Fair Talent Competition, writing her first original songs and recording her first album using her college fund. Caitlyn and Brendan talk about her years spent travelling back and forth from her home in Minnesota to Nashville developing her songwriting, signing her first publishing deal, and receiving cuts with artists like Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Trisha Yearwood, Meghan Trainor and Lady A. Caitlyn explains what life has been like since releasing her album Supernova in 2020, the opportunities that have led to opening for George Strait, Eric Church, Chris Stapleton, Old Dominion and Little Big Town, and how exciting it was to be nominated for New Female Artist of the Year at the 2022 ACM Awards. Finally, Caitlyn talks about self-producing her latest album which will be released in two parts, the first in April of 2022 named “High”, and the second half being added later in the year to create a full album aptly named “High Low”.
