Conner Smith is an up-and-coming singer/songwriter from Nashville who just released his debut EP "Didn't Go Too Far". Conner joins Country Music Made Me to discuss how a guitar he received at the age of 4 created a love for music and helped him overcome his shyness, how his Mom's career as an entertainment reporter in Nashville influenced his interest in songwriting, and how a trip to the Grand Ole Opry to see Hal Ketchum at the age of 6 inspired his first songwriting experience. Conner and Brendan talk about a very important meeting with Clay Bradley at BMI at the age 9 when Conner signed an entry level deal with the music company, signing his first publishing deal at 16 when he would go to school in the morning, song write in the afternoon, and head to baseball practice in the evening, and the moment he posted a Sam Hunt cover at 17 which led to working with Zach Crowell and signing with Tape Room Music. Conner explains how important the pandemic was in allowing him to find his true sound before releasing his debut EP "Didn't Go Too Far" in 2022, what it was like picking the 6 sings for the album, and what it's like releasing his debut after so many years of working within the industry, even though he's only 21.
