Every mature person understands what physical birth is. It’s an amazing miracle when a baby is conceived in a mother’s womb and nine months later a new life comes into the world. Every person has experienced this birth.
In John 3:7 Jesus tells Nicodemus “Ye must be born again.” Nicodemus didn’t understand this. He asked “How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?”
Jesus explained that every man must have two births, a physical one (by water) and a spiritual one (by the Spirit). You must experience the new birth if you want everlasting life in Heaven instead of Hell. There is no choice if you want to obey the words of Jesus Christ and the Bible!
Just as you can’t see the wind but can hear and feel it, so is every one that is “born again.” You can’t see anything different, but you can tell and hear the difference in that person. What is this “born again” that Jesus talked about? Why did Jesus say “ye MUST be born again?”
Let’s look at what the Bible means when it says “born again.”
