Cool Air is a chilling tale by H.P. Lovecraft that blends science, death, and the macabre. The story follows a man who moves into a New York City apartment building and becomes intrigued by the mysterious Dr. Muñoz, a reclusive physician living in the apartment above. The doctor, who keeps his room unnaturally cold, reveals to the narrator his terrifying secret: he relies on a complex system of refrigeration to stay alive long after his natural death. As the machinery begins to fail, the doctor’s dreadful reality is exposed in a shocking and gruesome climax. Cool Air is a gripping exploration of the fear of death and the unnatural lengths one might go to avoid it, filled with Lovecraft’s signature atmosphere of dread.
