“We Call Ourselves A Nation Of Immigrants Because thats What We Truly are”
Ronald Reagan

This is a topic that interests me mainly because all I’ve ever heard was. Open borders is bad. Why are you yelling it if no one is arguing it? First I have to say. When Hillary Clinton talked of open borders, She was talking to bankers about a global economic system. Not a physical border between countries. Even here, we talk more about regulating, and documenting the flow of people. Not opening a border

My theory however, since it’s my show is to discuss the idea of neutral zones along the border. If immigrants are coming here for opportunity, Why are we not moving the process to where we want them to stop? If we worked with Mexico. Used land and existing communities already in place, built up the infrastructure with courts, colleges, housing, and technical universities. If we built a military base along the border, working with Mexico to train together, and eradicate crime instead of walling it off. If the U.S and Mexico could together offer tax advantages to businesses in that area. Theres land, labor, and a new frontier. Let people coming here for a better life find a path. Come, apply, work, pay your bills, join the service, educate yourself, live that better life while being processed, vetted, and approved. Once approved, make it a deal citizenship so that they can go back to their home and affect positive change.

Jason Riley, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, came to Stanford Law School on May 2, 2013, for the discussion "Let Them In: The Case for Open Borders." The discussion, which was hosted by the Federalist Society and Stanford Latino Law Students Association, focused on themes featured in Riley's most recent book on immigration.
