Nathan Hankes is an American writer, scientist, combat veteran, and cultural commentator. Hankes deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in 2007 and spent the following decade in an unconscious quest to find peace. While in graduate school, Hankes was graced with a spontaneous mystical experience that altered the focus of his life in profound ways. But the process wasn’t without its doubt and confusion, so he started the Humboldt Lighthouse podcast to find answers from Humboldt County, California’s spiritual and alternative community. Hankes lives in the Pacific Northwest where he works as a scientist and manages About Face It: A Veteran Healing Sanctuary non-profit.
