In the past many people have told me that I’m fat, I have a big belly, and was always the ugly one of the group. As time past I lost weight, people started telling me, “wow you lost weight and look good now.” Although that made me feel good, my question is, why do many of us focus so much on body image. Every morning when I look in the mirror i try not to criticize my body so much, instead I’m starting to focus on my personality, and how that’s more important than the way I look. Social media, and the world, makes us feel so self-conscious because of the way we look, which often leads us to being so negative with ourselves. Body image does play a big part in mental health, and I’m starting to accept myself and my body for what it is. So for all of you that have body issues, love yourself. Your body is your temple, take care of it, and most importantly appreciate it.
