Brenda Buchanan brings experience as a lawyer and journalist to her crime fiction.
The three books in her Joe Gale series—Quick Pivot, Cover Story and Truth Beat—feature a newspaper reporter who covers the Maine crime and courts beat. Her short story, “Means, Motive, and Opportunity” is included in Bloodroot: Best New England Crime Stories 2021. She's just finished a new novel featuring the protagonist of that story, lesbian criminal defense lawyer Neva Pierce.
