Donna Marie Miller is the author of two nonfiction books, Texas Secessionists Standoff; the 1997 Republic of Texas "War,” (2023) and The Broken Spoke; Austin's Legendary Honky-Tonk, ( 2017,) both published by Texas A&M University Press. Her freelance articles have appeared in local, state, and national magazines. Early in her professional writing career she worked nine years as a newspaper reporter at three Texas daily newspapers. Miller also taught secondary level journalism courses for 24 years before retiring from teaching in 2013. Currently she is collaborating with Cynthia Uhrich to write a television series adaptation of her 2023 nonfiction true crime book.
