In the book “Expectation Hangover” by Christine Hassler, she breaks it down into three categories: Situational, interpersonal, and self-imposed. 

Left unchecked, disappointment can lead to a lack of motivation, depression, hopelessness, and even sickness. Luckily, it can be managed.
