The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has partnered with federal agencies to crack down on illegal gambling.
"We just want them to abide by the law," Sgt. Kevin Triola, with CMPD, said. "If they are going to have these machines they need to be for entertainment purposes only."
Officials say the number of machines in a facility that contributes to any cash payouts on winnings is illegal.
Last week undercover detectives went into a sweepstakes location on Brookshire Boulevard where officers seized numerous video gaming machines and approximately $21,000.

Law enforcement in the Charlotte area has responded to two separate machete assaults in the last week, officials announced Wednesday. The incidents are not believed to be related. A suspect has been taken into custody in both cases.
On Friday, patrol deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to Big Forest Drive in Statesville after a report of a fight in the area. Deputies determined the disturbance happened at a home on Big Forest Drive and interviewed multiple victims inside the home.
