Our subconscious and our Egos are similar because their main job is to take in the external environment and create ways to keep us safe. So, patterns help our subconscious filter and react to our surroundings. This is why creating mindful and healthy habits is important because creating positive patterns for our subconscious creates a more positive outlook on life. Our subconscious begins to filter only towards the positive narratives rather than the negative.
