Description

In this episode, I unpack what I mean by Quitting Culture and why quitting itself isn’t the real problem. The issue is quitting in the valley — the uncomfortable middle of any long-term commitment — and the identity story that forms when we do.

I share a defining moment from my early parenting years that changed how I guide my own children, along with what I’ve observed after decades of teaching hundreds of students. Every meaningful pursuit includes peaks, valleys, and plateaus. When parents (or adults) misinterpret the valley as failure, we unintentionally train ourselves and our kids to escape discomfort instead of building resilience.

We’ll explore how habitual quitting prevents real wins, how it quietly erodes confidence and self-trust, and why adults often “ghost” commitments instead of ending them cleanly. I’ll also introduce the concept of accountable quitting — changing your mind or ending agreements without shame, avoidance, or broken trust.

This isn’t about forcing perseverance at all costs. It’s about learning to finish what we start — or end it well — so we build a habit of success and become impeccable with our word.
