Welcome to Hail Media I'm Brian Wallace, MS Michigan Man 64, Left Tackle for Michigan Wolverines 1988-1991. This is where a former Wolverine gets real about life after football - battles you don't see coming and training that prepared us to take everything on!
Today I'm talking with Tilly from British Columbia, Canada - a returning guest diagnosed with MS in 2020. When we first met, she was newly diagnosed and scared, could only stand for two minutes and dragged her left leg. She was into CrossFit and running before MS, but didn't quit. She started with sitting exercises and built herself back up. Within two years, she returned to work doing Tabata workouts daily.
Tilly is a single mom fighting to get daughter Addie diagnosed on the autism spectrum - currently on a two-year waitlist. She works a physical job with weight restrictions and balance issues. After leaving an abusive relationship, she went through therapy and tough relationships before recently meeting someone who supports her journey.
We talk about the TikTok MS community keeping her motivated, using meditation for mental health and pain management, "dancing it out" on bad days, and fighting this disease. Tilly's message: rest when you need to, find your community, and never give up hope.

We also want to call your attention to Football Alumni of Michigan - an organization that we care deeply about. Follow them here at @michiganfootballalumni . FAM is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to mental health and assisting former Michigan team members with life's struggles after football, whether they are mental or physical. Division 1 football at the level we played it is brutal, and not all players come out of it in one piece. Visit www.michiganfootballalumni.org for more info and to make a tax-deductible donation.
