Welcome to Hail Media I'm Brian Wallace, MS Michigan Man 64, Left Tackle for Michigan Wolverines 1988-1991. This is where a former Wolverine gets real about life after football - battles you don't see coming and training that prepared us to take everything on!
Today I'm talking with Meagan from California, diagnosed with MS in 2000, at the age of 20. Her journey started with numbness on her left side and a couple weeks later her vision became distorted. Meagan went to an eye doctor and they right away told her they suspected MS. After testing Meagan was told she had multiple sclerosis not having any knowledge of the disease.
We talk about her DMT journey and the mental part of her diagnosis and how she had to learn about her new life after hearing she was going to be dead in 20 years by her doctor.
Meagan talks about her struggles with cognitive issues and how it's the invisible part of the disease.
We also have an awesome conversation about having a family with her chronic disease and how she went through her fibromyalgia diagnosis at 30 years old and how she managed that. Meagan is also a breast cancer survivor being diagnosed and treated in 2020.
We talk about divorce, family, TikTok and how we have to find something to occupy our mind to keep fighting the fight. Meagan is very talented with craft making and we have a great conversation about her "she shed" where she works on her art.

We also want to call your attention to Football Alumni of Michigan - an organization that we care deeply about. Follow them here at @michiganfootballalumni . FAM is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to mental health and assisting former Michigan team members with life's struggles after football, whether they are mental or physical. Division 1 football at the level we played it is brutal, and not all players come out of it in one piece. Visit www.michiganfootballalumni.org for more info and to make a tax-deductible donation.
